Vanilla Rasa
(Latin: blank slate):
refers to the epistemological thesis that Vanilla Ice Cream
has no innate or built-in flavor content, in a word, "blank",
and that its entire resource of taste is built up gradually
from the addition of toppings that lead to sensory perceptions.
Just like a "Tabula Rasa",
Vanilla Ice Cream is a blank slate, an empty canvas,
upon which the creative dessert artist can apply
any medium; fruit toppings, syrups, jam, jellies...
and in this case, my favorite Halo-Halo condiment,
the preferred Pinoy version of that humble Hummus ingredient,
GARBANZOS!!!
